Our Mission

In 2009 a scholarship fund was established at the Hartford Art School to honor Peter McLean for his thirty-three years of service. Peter taught in the Experimental Studio program, the Foundations Sculpture and Drawing classes, and the Native American Studies of the All-University curriculum.

To date, this scholarship has made a difference for four young student artists who were in need of financial assistance to complete their creative education. They are:

Nicholas Napoletano

2012; Illustration; Colchester, Connecticut

Stephanie S. Trainor

2007; Visual Communication Design; Glen Rock, New Jersey
“Receiving the Peter McLean scholarship gave me the confidence, and opportunity to pursue my artistic aspirations at the University of Hartford. The education I received provided me with the foundation I needed for a successful career in Graphic Design.”

Ronald A. Pezzullo

2006; Visual Communication Design; Farmington, Connecticut
“Receiving the Peter McLean scholarship helped make possible an art education that I am proud of and has helped shape my career today. Any aspiring artist would be extremely fortunate to experience the University’s program.”

Courtney E. Miller

The proceeds from your purchase will go to the Peter McLean Scholarship and will allow the Hartford Art School to continue to help young graduates achieve their artistic dreams and realize their goals for many years to come.
